visual changes

For a long time i’ve been thinking about changing my old table style html coding into pure css. I began to work on it a few days ago…

A load of tries with css templating made me think that it was the perfect time to change the global design of the site, including the layout. The big bang of changing the whole graphic work will be done later. The point is more to adapt the technology (table to div) and change some aspects  than to make a new visual identification for guitarExp.

The majors changes were about the width of pages. The website could fit in a 800×600 pixels screen… it is now optimized for a 1024×768px screen. At the same time width for content is larger since i dropped the right column.

I ran into traditional html/css problems : Equal-height columns… to end up finding the solution in a very good article : http://alistapart.com/articles/holygrail. I read a lot of articles about it but this one from Matthew Levine is far better than any other. Check-out the example page, perfect to understand and test new values (using Firebug).

There is stil a lot of work to do to modify the templates in the blog and the forum pages. Time’s up for today, more to come tomorrow…

Any feedback on the new design would be more than welcome ! thank you.

Have a nice week-end,

Marc
