Google HTTP redirect loop

A new geeky post…

I had for several weeks issues logging into my google account from my home laptop (MacBookPro/Safari). No problem from work (Windows/Chrome). Problem occurs no matter the google application I use (gmail, calendar, docs, reader). After entering my credentials, Safari enter an infinite loop of HTTP redirect. Safari stops the loop after 20-30 redirects and print out an error message.

I googled some keywords and found out a lot of solutions not resolving my issue :

  • adjust date&time of the laptop
  • empty caches
  • delete cookies
  • reboot the rooter&laptop (WTF?)
  • update GMail Manager for Firefox which I obviously don’t use…

I tried some more things like « reset safari », uninstall Google Notifier. I finally looked for a way to uninstall Google Gears. And… here was the solution !

Infinite loop gone ! but… Google Gears gone too ! no more offline gmail/calendar/docs…

I definitely need to do some more testing on Google Gears to found out a way to use it without entering this f*****g loop.
